For my 20th Century Brit Lit class we finally read a book that isn't completely boring and it wasn't written in the early 1900′s. [NOTE: The remainder Notes on a Scandal and Inland Empire are similarly crosshatched films. Author Zoë Heller attracted attention when her scathing second novel, What Was She Thinking? She's made good choices in her roles. Several people who had read this before me likened it to American Psycho, which I think is a mistake. Zoe Heller covered this ground in Notes on a Scandal, and of course there is always Lolita. This one is actually a modern novel, printed in 1998! She added, however, that the success of Grey's Anatomy gave producers “the capital” to take some risks with Scandal. I also thought she should have won the BSA for “Notes on a Scandal”. Barbara's telling of the story is eerie - her unemotional character reminded me of Kath in Never Let Me Go, and early in the book it is hard to tell if it's because she is acting like a reporter, jealous, or for some other reason. Written by: Patrick Marber (screenplay); Zoe Heller (novel "What Was She Thinking: Notes on a Scandal"). Or just a person who likes to affections of a young boy? Darcy at the show, but she did find the original “Kitty.” The only female nude in the exhibition appears in Venus and Cupid (shown in family-friendly detail above). Perhaps she is thinking of Steven (Andrew Simpson), the student with whom she is having sex, although we don't know this yet. Georges school and old-timer Barbara soon takes her under her wing. Bohemian teacher Sheba Hart arrives to teach art at St. Notes on a Scandal, was adapted into a dark, disturbing movie starring Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench.
