The City and the Pillar Gore Vidal

Very early photographic portrait of the 23-year-old Vidal, taken in the year that the publication of his controversial novel THE CITY AND THE PILLAR scandalized the mainstream press. But he never forgot Trimble, either. Usually updated every Sunday, but more often at the moment to make up for a short hiatus (of writing not reading). He'd dedicated his novel The City and the Pillar to "JT" when it was published in 1948. But it was his second, The City and the Pillar, that truly established him. In 1948, his novel The City and the Pillar, with its overtly homoerotic theme, was pilloried by The New York Times. To make a living, Vidal started writing for television, theater and film. Vidal wasn't invited to the field rededication. It is a uniquely Chiang Mai Festival. Gore Vidal: (October 3, 1925- present).
